What We Ask of the Convenors

  • Before the thinkshop
    • Prepare a web page containing links to the relevant literature--theoretical, current state of the experimental art from CDF and DØ, and competitive measurements from other kinds of experiments. This should be available by the end of September. We will provide a template.
    • Recruit speakers to present short talks to your discussion group. Each of these should provoke group discussion. Seek a balance that will help theorists to understand what has been done and what can be done by the experiments, and show experimenters what theorists believe is interesting.
  • During the thinkshop
    • Oversee the "five-minute" presentations, which we expect will stretch to ten minutes with interruptions and elaborations. It is the job of the convenors to cut off speakers at the right moment, to animate discussion, and to move on to the next topic.
    • Present a ten-minute report on your discussion group to the Sunday morning plenary session of the thinkshop.
  • After the thinkshop
    • Meet with the thinkshop organizers at noon on Sunday to discuss what should be done next (e.g. nothing ? 2nd thinkshop in 6-8 months ? simulations ?). If something is to be done, discuss how to organize it and who will be responsible for what.
    • Update the web page to provide a resource for those who want to pursue ideas raised at the thinkshop.
